What You’ll Do

• Conduct detailed investigations of workers’ compensation claims submitted by state employees; evaluate medical records and determine compensability under applicable law.
• Authorize medical treatment, determine need for rehabilitation, calculate and maintain monetary reserves, and authorize compensation payments and settlements.
• Pursue recoveries via subrogation or the Special Disability Trust Fund when applicable.
• Direct and coordinate defense counsel activity for assigned claims; attend mediations and hearings as needed.
• Advise and support Claims Coordinators from various agencies on coverage, compensability, treatment, and reporting of work-related incidents.
• Monitor service vendor performance and complete DWC forms for Electronic Data Interchange Reporting.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records; negotiate and facilitate resolution agreements.

Requirements

• At least six (6) months of experience in a role requiring working knowledge of Chapter 440, Florida Statutes or an equivalent statute.
• Ability to conduct fact-finding investigations, evaluate claim-related data, and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• Ability to handle high-volume phone or public contact in a tactful, courteous manner.

Preferences

• Current or prior Florida Adjuster License.
• At least one (1) year of experience adjusting workers’ compensation claims within the last three (3) years.
• At least one (1) year of experience in the workers’ compensation claims business — preferably within the State of Florida.
• Experience with risk management information systems or claims-adjusting software.
• Experience adjusting permanent total disability or presumption claims.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Compensation & Important Details

• Location: Tallahassee, FL (work performed for Confidential Client).
• Employment Type: FULL_TIME (Career Service).
• Salary Range (anticipated): $48,945.48 - $53,800.00 per year.
