What Is the Opportunity?
Confidential Client is hiring an Associate Claim Representative focused on Workers' Compensation with a structured training program (typically up to 12 months). This role is designed for candidates who want a career in claims handling: you’ll receive classroom, virtual, and on-the-job training to build skills in claim investigation, coverage analysis, customer service, and return-to-work coordination. Upon successful program completion, you will be prepared to handle claims independently and progress into a full claims-handling role.
What You’ll Do
- Actively participate in structured training classes covering insurance policies, claims processes, systems, and procedures (virtual, classroom, and on-the-job).
- Assist in reviewing, investigating, and documenting Workers' Compensation claims under close supervision.
- Investigate, develop, and evaluate action plans for claim resolution; assess coverage and compensability (including potential fraud indicators).
- Participate in telephonic and/or onsite file reviews.
- Learn to determine coverage, compensability, and exposure based on policy terms and claim facts.
- Gather information from policyholders, claimants, witnesses, and third-party providers.
- Communicate claim status professionally to insureds, injured employees, medical providers, employers, and legal counsel.
- Maintain accurate records of claim activity in claims management systems.
- Support return-to-work outcomes, coordinating medical treatment and vocational resources when appropriate.
- Demonstrate openness to continuous learning, including AI and digital transformation tools.
- Acquire and maintain required insurance license(s) per state and Confidential Client requirements (typically within three months of hire).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What is a must have:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum one year of customer service experience
Preferred / ideal:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Internship or prior work experience in customer service or insurance
- Willingness to obtain an active adjuster/claims license where required by state law
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); willingness to learn claims management systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Sound judgment and ability to make decisions within established authority
- Exceptional customer service orientation and attention to detail
- Basic conflict resolution skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrated openness to learning and professional growth
