Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a WMS Software Developer I to support warehouse management and operational systems in Thompson Place, WA. This role focuses on SQL-driven solutions, WMS configuration, reporting, and data quality improvements. Remote candidates will be considered only if they can work Pacific Northwest hours.
What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot, maintain, enhance and extend Warehouse Management System (WMS) applications and supporting databases.
- Design, develop, optimize and deploy SQL solutions: stored procedures, functions, views, SQL Jobs and data models that support warehousing operations.
- Build and maintain queries, reports and views to support daily operations and management reporting.
- Support data validation and cleanup to improve accuracy of customer, product, logistics and transactional data.
- Analyze root causes of data issues affecting orders, inventory, shipments and financial transactions and implement durable fixes.
- Translate operational requirements into scalable reporting and data solutions in partnership with business stakeholders.
- Document database objects, report logic, recurring data processes and custom enhancements.
- Automate repeatable warehouse processes to reduce redundancy and improve operational efficiency.
- Participate in database performance tuning for high-volume transactional systems (order management, purchasing, inventory, WES).
- Provide occasional after-hours support and travel for site visits as needed.
Key Skills & Technologies
- Foundational knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts (on-prem and cloud).
- Experience with tables, joins, views, indexes, stored procedures and basic query optimization.
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Management Studio.
- Comfort using development tools such as Visual Studio Code (VSCode) and database editors/tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with a customer-service mindset.
- Ability to work in Agile teams and follow development best practices for security and performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Less than 3 years of professional experience with warehouse operations or WMS systems (Level I).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics or related field preferred — or equivalent technical training, internships or project experience.
- Certifications or coursework in SQL, relational databases, reporting, systems analysis or supply chain systems are beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to design and document software/database solutions and to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: $70,000 - $85,000 DOE.
- Benefits: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; 401(k) with company match; vacation, sick time, floater days and paid holidays.
Location & Schedule
- Primary work location: Thompson Place, WA (on-site/hybrid options available near Confidential Client’s Lacey hub).
- Remote: candidates outside the Lacey area considered only if they can work Pacific Northwest hours and attend regular check-ins.
- Employment type: Full-time (Contractor engagement options may apply).
