Role Summary

Confidential Client is seeking a Windows Systems Administrator to support a federal government engagement in Northern Virginia. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Alexandria, VA. The role focuses on administering and sustaining Windows server and workstation environments to maximize availability, security, and performance.

  • Anticipated Award: September/October 2026
  • Anticipated Start: September/October 2026
  • Period of Performance: 1 Base Year + 4 Option Years
  • Salary Range: $140,000 – $200,000 annually (actual compensation based on experience, certifications, security clearance, and contract funding). This position is contingent upon contract award.

Location & Schedule

This is an on-site role in Northern Virginia (Alexandria, VA). Regular in-office attendance is required. Travel up to 10% may be required.


Responsibilities

The Windows Systems Administrator will:

  • Administer and sustain Windows server and workstation environments and supporting platforms (email, storage, databases, hardware) to maximize availability and utilization.
  • Support LAN/WAN operations consistent with CIO, communications, and information security policies.
  • Assess proposed operating changes for impact to network and system performance.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex system and network performance issues using advanced analysis tools and structured problem-solving.
  • Provide customer-focused support in multi-system/multi-application environments and communicate technical procedures clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Education & Experience

Experience levels considered:

  • Entry Level: 0–2 years of specialized experience
  • Journeyman: 2–4 years of specialized experience
  • Full Performance: 4–6 years of specialized experience
  • Senior Level: 6–8 years of specialized experience
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME): 8–12 years of specialized experience

Desired Qualifications & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in Windows server administration, cloud & infrastructure, architecture & design, networking, or cybersecurity are a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with Windows Server (core services), Active Directory, patching, and backup/recovery processes.
  • Experience supporting LAN/WAN environments and applying security policies in federal or highly regulated environments.

Security Clearance

  • Active TS/SCI with an FS Poly adjudicated within the last five (5) years is required.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of this role, with or without accommodation:

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Frequently operate standard office equipment (computers, telephones).
  • Communicate effectively in person, by phone, video conference, and email.
  • Occasionally move around the office and lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Work the assigned schedule with regular and reliable attendance.
