Wellness Dietician Entry-Level / Diabetes Education / Internal Only
The Wellness Dietician provides nutrition and diabetes education to patients and community members through individual and group sessions. This role involves assessing nutritional needs, developing and implementing care plans, and evaluating outcomes to support patient health within a hospital setting focused on comprehensive community healthcare.

What You’ll Do
Provides diabetes and nutrition education to patients and community members in both one-on-one sessions and group classes. Primary responsibilities include:
- Provide nutrition and diabetes education to patients and community groups in clinic and community settings
- Assess nutritional needs and perform nutrition-focused physical findings and dietary assessments
- Develop, implement and monitor individualized nutrition care plans
- Lead and teach group diabetes education classes and community workshops
- Document education, care plans and outcomes clearly and in a timely manner
- Communicate and coordinate with interdisciplinary care teams (providers, nurses, case managers)
- Participate in outreach and community health education efforts to support prevention and self-management
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or a related field
- Registered Dietitian (RD) licensed in North Carolina, or Registered Dietitian eligible
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) for healthcare providers — obtain within one month of hire if not current
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience OR successful completion of an accredited dietetic internship may be considered in lieu of work experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfort teaching groups
- Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations and community partners
Preferred
- Master of Science in Dietetics or related field
- Health Coach Certification
- Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE)
- Experience in community health education or diabetes program development
Employment Details
- Employment type: Contract (as listed)
- Work location: On-site in Hickory, NC (must be able to work in-person)
- Timeline: incumbents should be able to demonstrate proficiency in core duties after initial training period (approximately three months)
