Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Weekend Meteorologist/Content Creator to produce on-air weather forecasts for weekend newscasts and to create and publish weather content across digital platforms (including streaming apps). This role blends on-air presentation, field reporting (MMVJ duties), shooting and editing video, writing for web and social, and participating in newsroom coverage of breaking and severe weather.


What You’ll Do

  • Produce and present accurate, engaging weather and weather-related news segments for weekend broadcasts.
  • Serve as a fill-in meteorologist for other newscasts as needed.
  • Report, shoot, write and edit weather/news reports end-to-end for broadcast and digital channels.
  • Write daily web forecast stories and create social media content to grow engagement.
  • Respond quickly and professionally to breaking and severe weather events; coordinate with the newsroom during urgent situations.
  • Work with the weather team to develop comprehensive local coverage and explain impactful weather to viewers.
  • Perform MMVJ reporting duties approximately three days per week (shooting and editing).
  • Participate in promotional activities and public appearances on behalf of the station.
  • Maintain production quality and journalistic standards in all weather and news content.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology or a related field — or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Entry-level to 2 years’ experience in weather presentation and reporting preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to shoot video and perform non-linear editing (produce stories from start to finish).
  • Experience with newsroom tools (ENPS helpful).
  • Familiarity with Barron’s Radar or similar forecasting/radar tools is a plus.
  • Strong forecasting skills and solid understanding of meteorological concepts.
  • Excellent writing and on-air delivery skills; ability to translate complex weather into clear, local-focused information.
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and handle multiple assignments.
  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and other shifts as scheduled.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Compensation Range: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour.
  • Full-time role with primary responsibility for weekend newscasts; includes on-call or fill-in shifts during the week.
  • MMVJ reporting three days per week is part of the position.
  • Final employment terms, benefits, and schedule will be provided by Confidential Client if you are selected.
