What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Water/Wastewater Engineer to join their Newport News, VA office. This role focuses on practical engineering work supporting water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including modeling, design, evaluation, and construction administration.

  • Perform water distribution and sewer system modeling and analysis.
  • Support design of pipelines, pumping systems, and treatment process components.
  • Evaluate existing water/wastewater facilities and recommend operational or capital improvements.
  • Produce technical drawings and construction documents using CAD/Civil 3D or Bentley MicroStation as needed.
  • Assist with construction administration tasks, including submittal reviews and field coordination.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical findings to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 0–4 years of experience in water/wastewater design or related engineering work (relevant internships acceptable for new graduates).
  • Familiarity with pipelines, pumping systems, and treatment system design and operation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and good organizational habits.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude and ability to work cooperatively with colleagues.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, or Bentley MicroStation.
  • Experience with water distribution and sewer modeling software.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam passing grade or EIT certification preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated salary range: $70,000 - $125,000 per year (good-faith estimate; final offer may vary based on experience, skills, and other factors).
