Overview
Confidential client is seeking an Entry-Level Water/Wastewater Engineer to join their Newport News, VA team. This role focuses on water and sewer modeling, evaluation and design of water/wastewater facilities, and construction administration. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career engineers with a strong foundation in civil or mechanical engineering and an interest in water infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
- Support water and sewer system modeling and analysis (distribution and collection systems)
- Assist with evaluation, planning, and design of water and wastewater facilities, pipelines, pumping systems, and treatment processes
- Prepare design drawings and technical documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation, and GIS tools
- Participate in construction administration and coordination with contractors and project teams
- Help prepare reports, specifications, and cost estimates
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical findings to internal and external stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 0–4 years of relevant water/wastewater design or internship experience
- Familiarity with water distribution and sewer modeling software (or strong willingness to learn)
- Experience or coursework using AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, or Bentley MicroStation is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and solid organizational abilities
- Positive, team-oriented attitude and willingness to work collaboratively
- Passing grade on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or EIT status preferred
Employment Type & Compensation
- Employment type: Full-time (Contract)
- Pay range: $70,000 – $125,000 per year (good-faith estimate; actual pay will be based on experience, skills, and location)
