What You’ll Do
This entry-level Water/Wastewater Engineer will support design, analysis, and construction administration work for water and wastewater projects out of the Newport News, VA office. Typical duties include:
- Support water distribution and sewer system modeling, analysis, and reporting
- Assist with design of pipelines, pumping systems, and treatment facility components
- Prepare engineering plans, details, and specifications using CAD/Civil 3D or MicroStation
- Perform field visits and support construction administration and inspection activities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and prepare clear technical communications and reports
- Apply standard engineering principles to evaluate existing systems and propose improvements
- Learn and use GIS and water/wastewater modeling software under mentorship
What We’re Looking For
Minimum qualifications and skills for a strong candidate:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 0–4 years of relevant water/wastewater design or internship experience
- Familiarity with water distribution and sewer modeling principles
- Experience or coursework with AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, and/or Bentley MicroStation is a plus
- Understanding of pipeline, pump station, and treatment system components
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and good attention to detail
- Positive, team-oriented attitude and ability to work with clients and contractors
- Passing grade on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or EIT status preferred
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated salary range: $70,000 — $125,000 per year (good-faith estimate; final offer may vary by experience and location)
