Role Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Water/Wastewater Engineer to join their Fairfax, VA office. This role focuses on water distribution and wastewater systems design, hydraulic modeling, facility evaluation, and construction administration. This is a full-time, on-site position ideal for new graduates and engineers with up to four years of related experience.
What You’ll Do
- Support water distribution and sewer system hydraulic modeling and analysis
- Assist with design of pipelines, pumping systems, and treatment facility components
- Perform water and wastewater facility evaluations and prepare technical reports
- Produce engineering drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation
- Support GIS data management and mapping tasks
- Participate in construction administration and site inspections
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and communicate with clients and contractors
- Maintain organized project documentation and schedules
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 0–4 years of water/wastewater design or related engineering experience
- Relevant internship or co-op experience required for recent graduates
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good organizational skills and ability to work cooperatively in teams
- Passing grade on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or EIT certification preferred
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship (Confidential Client will not sponsor work visas for this role)
Preferred Skills & Tools
- Experience or coursework with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Familiarity with GIS tools and spatial data workflows
- Knowledge of water distribution and sewer modeling software (e.g., EPANET, WaterGEMS, InfoWorks)
- Experience with Bentley MicroStation is a plus
- Exposure to design standards, permit requirements, and construction administration
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated compensation range: $72,000 — $97,000 per year (good-faith estimate; final offer will consider experience, location, and qualifications)
