What You’ll Do
As a Water/Wastewater Engineer in Training (EIT) with Confidential Client, you will join a collaborative civil/environmental engineering team focused on planning, design, and construction support for water and wastewater infrastructure. This entry-level engineering role provides hands-on exposure across project phases and a clear path toward professional licensure.
- Assist project managers and licensed engineers in the design and construction of drinking water and wastewater systems, including treatment facilities, distribution and collection systems, pump stations, and related infrastructure.
- Help develop plans, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates.
- Perform construction observation and administration on water-related projects to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
- Prepare technical reports, memos, and client presentations.
- Support survey crews and occasionally perform field data gathering and construction staking assistance.
Who We’re Looking For
Minimum qualifications (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification or the ability to obtain it.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding (e.g., criminal/civil background check, drug screen, motor vehicle record check) in compliance with applicable laws.
Preferred qualifications
- Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
- Prior engineering internship experience on water, wastewater, or rural water projects.
- Experience with AutoCAD or Civil 3D.
Physical & Work Environment
- Ability to walk up to 3 miles on uneven terrain.
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods.
- Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
- Able to lift/carry/push/pull light to moderate loads; may occasionally lift up to 20 lbs (rarely up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify defects or problems.
- May be required to wear PPE (e.g., flame-resistant clothing, hard hat, protective footwear).
- Occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight travel may be required depending on project needs.
