Role Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Transportation / Water Resources Engineer to join their Civil Engineering team in Crabtree Valley, NC. This role focuses on hydraulics and water-resources work supporting transportation projects — including hydrologic analysis, hydraulic design, and stormwater management for federal, NCDOT, other state DOTs, and municipal projects. Ideal candidates are recent Civil Engineering graduates or early-career engineers with strong analytical skills and a willingness to learn in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Responsibilities
- Support hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for roadway and drainage systems.
- Develop hydraulic designs and stormwater management plans for transportation projects.
- Prepare construction contract plans, specifications, and supporting technical documentation.
- Run/interpret models (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, TR-55 or similar) and incorporate results into design drawings and reports.
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams including traffic, structural, and permitting staff.
- Assist with permitting, compliance documentation, and responses to agency reviews.
- Produce clear engineering calculations, CAD drawings, and technical memos.
- Communicate effectively with senior engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 0–4 years of relevant experience; relevant internships or co-op experience highly desirable.
- Familiarity with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling and stormwater design principles.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a design team.
- EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification is a plus but not required.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office; experience with CAD and engineering modeling tools preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated salary range: $70,000 — $125,000 per year (good-faith range; final offer will depend on experience, skills, and location).
