Confidential Client is hiring a Voice Data Communications Engineer, SME based in Jbphh, HI. This role supports design, installation, testing, and maintenance of voice, video, wireless, and data communications systems for large-scale networks. The position requires a Top-Secret clearance (must be able to obtain/maintain) and the ability to pass background checks.
Compensation: USD $92,000 - $102,000 / year (range provided by source).
What You’ll Do
The Engineer will work on engineering and technical tasks across voice and data domains, supporting secure and scalable communications systems.
- Assist with planning, designing, and developing large-scale voice/data communications networks to meet performance, security, and scalability requirements.
- Support installation, configuration, and deployment of communications systems and associated infrastructure.
- Perform testing, troubleshooting, and validation of network components to ensure reliable operation.
- Support maintenance, repair, and routine upgrades of voice, video, wireless, and data systems.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
- Coordinate with cross-functional technical teams, architects, and planners to ensure communications spaces and media pathways meet standards.
- Apply industry best practices and engineering principles to meet project requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by program management.
Key Qualifications
Required
- Top-Secret clearance (required) and ability to pass background checks.
- One of the following certifications is required: BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) or Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work with diverse technical teams.
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Able to lift and move hardware up to ~50 lbs and work in confined technical spaces as needed.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field — or equivalent practical experience.
- Foundational understanding of voice and data protocols and technologies (e.g., VoIP, TCP/IP, SIP).
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve network issues efficiently.
- Familiarity with network and telecommunication diagnostic tools (hardware and software).
- Experience with large communications network environments and technical documentation.
Note: While significant experience (e.g., ~10 years) is preferred for some senior roles, Confidential Client will consider candidates with strong certifications and technical aptitude.
