Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Voice Data Communications Engineer, Journeyman based in Jbphh, HI. This early-career engineering role supports planning, design, installation, testing, and maintenance of large voice and data communications networks. The position requires a Top-Secret clearance (must be currently held or obtainable) and one of the listed BICSI certifications. What You’ll Do

You will work as part of a technical team to implement, maintain, and troubleshoot voice/data communications infrastructure. Key duties include:

• Assist in planning, designing, and developing voice and data communications networks to meet performance, security, and scalability requirements
• Participate in installation and deployment of voice/data systems and physical infrastructure (cabling, pathways, patching)
• Perform system testing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting to maintain reliable operations
• Support preventative and corrective maintenance activities for network hardware and components
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, configuration records, and procedures
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, architects, and planners to ensure communications spaces and media pathways meet industry standards
• Apply industry best practices and follow compliance standards for communications systems
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Top-Secret clearance required (ability to pass background checks; employment contingent on maintaining clearance)
• One of the following certifications is mandatory:
  • BICSI Installer 2 – Copper OR
  • BICSI Installer 2 – Fiber (or equivalent BICSI Installer 2 certification)
• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred — equivalent practical experience will be considered
• Minimum: candidates with strong certifications and technical aptitude may be considered even if formal experience is limited; typical hires have ~3 years of relevant experience
• Must be able to pass required background checks

• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to prepare clear technical documentation
• Solid organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced, changing environment
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in multi-disciplinary teams
• Able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)

• Foundational understanding of voice and data technologies and protocols (e.g., VoIP, TCP/IP, SIP)
• Familiarity with network and telecommunication diagnostic tools (hardware and software)

• Pay range (provided by Confidential Client): USD $65,000 - USD $75,000 per year
