What You’ll Do

You will join a confidential client engineering team responsible for designing and delivering large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, distributed software systems that support trading and post-trading workflows. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Design, implement, and maintain server-side services and components for order state management and trading platforms across asset classes (Equity and Options).
  • Build and operate high-throughput distributed messaging and data pipelines.
  • Develop robust integrations with relational and NoSQL data stores.
  • Author and maintain unit and performance tests; participate in performance tuning.
  • Lead or participate in scrum ceremonies; drive deliverables to completion with cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute to CI/CD, version control practices (Git), and operational runbooks.

What You’ll Bring

Minimum requirements (applicants must meet the education/experience criteria below):

  • Education & experience:
    • Master’s degree in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or a related field and three (3) years of relevant experience in the role or equivalent positions; OR
    • Bachelor’s degree in the fields above and five (5) years of relevant experience in equivalent technology roles.
  • Technical experience (at least three (3) years with each unless otherwise noted):
    • Java
    • Linux / Unix
    • Kafka
    • MQ (message queuing)
    • SQL and JDBC
    • Relational databases and NoSQL databases (e.g., Redis)
    • Unit testing and performance testing
    • Git
    • Shell or Perl scripting
    • Spring Framework
    • XML
    • Distributed messaging systems
    • Multi-threaded server-side development
    • Web services (RESTful and SOAP)
    • Apache Camel
  • Additional requirement:
    • One (1) year of experience with JMS

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience with trading or post-trade systems and order state management.
  • Familiarity with MS SQL Server.
  • Experience in low-latency, high-throughput financial services systems.
  • Prior work in Agile/Scrum environments and experience leading technical delivery.

Location & Work Arrangement

  • Job location: New York, NY (onsite with hybrid flexibility).
  • Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week as operationally appropriate.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Expected base pay at commencement: $198,000 — $210,000 per year. Final pay is determined on an individualized basis and may be supplemented by discretionary bonuses, long-term incentives, and other total compensation components.
