Role Summary
Confidential Client is seeking a UX Designer to create intuitive, high-quality interfaces for robotics products and operations. You will design across spatial/VR surfaces, fleet-management applications, and internal tooling—taking projects from research and prototyping through validation and production. This is an early-hire, high-ownership role for someone who enjoys building, iterating quickly, and establishing design standards.
What You’ll Do
- Design immersive VR-based and web/mobile interfaces that help operators understand and direct robots in real time.
- Own end-to-end service design: map workflows across people, robots, and tools and design the connective experiences that make those workflows reliable and usable.
- Prototype rapidly (Figma, low-fi mockups, or code) and validate designs through usability testing and operational discovery sessions.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and operations to ship interfaces and ensure production quality.
- Establish and maintain design system components, patterns, and documentation to scale the product experience.
- Contribute to design culture and standards as an early member of a growing design team.
What We’re Looking For (Required)
- Strong interaction and visual design craft with a portfolio that demonstrates clarity and usability in complex, data-rich, or real-time experiences.
- Systems and service-thinking: ability to design coherent journeys across multiple touchpoints and handoffs.
- Experience running discovery and usability tests and translating insights into actionable design improvements.
- Proven ability to operate autonomously—moving from ambiguous problems to shipped solutions while wearing multiple hats.
- A bias toward prototyping to learn and iterate quickly (Figma, low-fi, or code).
- Expertise or strong interest in human factors and human-robot interaction (latency, presence, situational awareness, operator trust and fatigue).
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience designing for VR/AR or spatial/3D interfaces, with awareness of interaction, comfort, and ergonomics for head-mounted displays.
- Experience designing for robotics, gaming, or other real-time interactive systems.
- Familiarity with Unity, Unreal, or other 3D/XR tooling.
- Experience building and maintaining design systems.
- Comfortable using AI-assisted tools to accelerate design workflows.
Benefits & Additional Hiring Details
- Competitive total compensation including salary, annual bonus, equity, and benefits (medical, 401(k) match, flexible PTO, daily lunch, etc.).
- Employment is subject to verification of eligibility to work in the United States and completion of standard employment verification (Form I-9 and related documentation) as required.
- Confidential Client is committed to reasonable accommodations during the application and hiring process. If you require an accommodation, please indicate that in your application materials or contact the recruiter assigned via the Careertakes platform.
