What You’ll Do
As an Ultrasound Sonographer in Fort Wayne, IN, you will deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging using portable ultrasound equipment across hospital, clinic, and home settings. This mobile role requires strong patient care, technical scanning skills, and dependable documentation.
- Perform abdominal, vascular, and general ultrasound exams using portable systems
- Prepare, position, and instruct patients; monitor comfort and safety during exams
- Adjust technical settings and scanning technique to obtain diagnostic-quality images
- Communicate findings and imaging concerns promptly to ordering clinicians
- Accurately document patient information and exam results in electronic health records
- Maintain, clean, and troubleshoot portable ultrasound equipment; report issues as required
- Follow all safety protocols, infection control procedures, and regulatory standards
- Stay current with ultrasound technology and best practices for mobile sonography
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field from an accredited program
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification or equivalent
- Proficient with portable ultrasound equipment and solid understanding of ultrasound physics
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for professional patient and team interactions
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time across varied locations
- Previous mobile ultrasound or clinical experience preferred but not required
Working Conditions & Travel
- Regular travel to hospitals, outpatient clinics, and private residences in the Fort Wayne area
- Exposure to diverse patient conditions; role may require assisting patients with mobility
- Ability to lift and safely move portable ultrasound equipment
- Flexible scheduling with potential overtime opportunities
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour (depending on experience)
