UI/UX Designer
The UI/UX Designer at Confidential Client will design intuitive, human-centered interfaces for secure government applications supporting national security and tactical operations. This role involves collaborating onsite with developers, product owners, and end-users to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that translate complex government data into clear, functional visual designs. The position requires an active TS/SCI clearance and involves working in secure government facilities with a hybrid onsite schedule.

What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring a UI/UX Designer to shape human-centered interfaces for mission-critical web applications used by DoD and Intelligence Community (IC) customers. You will work directly with product owners, developers, analysts, and operators — often in secure government facilities — to transform complex data into clear, usable interfaces.
- Create wireframes and low-fidelity mockups that clarify complex, secure workflows
- Design high-fidelity, interactive mockups and prototypes that serve as developer-ready blueprints
- Collaborate with product owners and end users to iterate designs based on user feedback and operational requirements
- Translate analyst and operator feedback into intuitive, secure UI solutions suitable for accredited environments
- Work with full-stack teams in agile sprints to ensure design fidelity through implementation
- Maintain design documentation, style guides, and deliverables that support secure development lifecycles
Required Technical Skills (MUST HAVES)
- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of professional experience in UI/UX or product design
- Active TS/SCI clearance (must be active) and willingness to obtain a CI polygraph
- Experience working onsite with DoD and/or IC customers
- Strong expertise in wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity visual design for web applications
- Proven ability to drive visual design, layout, and composition for data-heavy interfaces
- Experience collaborating with end users to gather requirements and validate designs
- Comfortable working with development teams in agile environments
- Portfolio or examples of recent design work (understanding that cleared work may be redacted)
- Experience with design tools, ideally Figma (highly preferred); Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools acceptable
Preferred Technical Skills (NICE TO HAVES)
- Experience running user research, developing user personas, or performing information architecture
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and how front-end frameworks (React, Angular, Vue) affect UI implementation
- Understanding of accessibility best practices
- Prior work within strict accreditation and security processes
- Experience presenting design work directly to stakeholders and users
Location, Schedule & Security Requirements
- Location: Bethesda, MD (work is expected in secure facilities)
- Onsite expectation: typically up to 1–2 days per week in a SCIF or secure government facility
- Clearance: MUST have an active TS/SCI clearance and be willing to obtain a CI polygraph
- Citizenship: US citizenship is required for clearance eligibility and assignment
Qualifications & Experience
- Mid–Senior level UI/UX Designer with 2+ years professional experience
- Demonstrable portfolio showing wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs (redacted examples accepted)
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset for working with cross-functional teams
