Role summary
Confidential Client is seeking a detail-oriented, entry-level Trust Accountant to join a busy trust accounting team in Pico Heights / West Los Angeles. This is a long-term contract position with potential for permanent hire. The role is ideal for someone early in their accounting career who wants hands-on experience with check and payment processing, document handling, account setup, and high-volume administrative workflows. Entertainment industry exposure is a plus.
Key responsibilities
- Process incoming checks: group, scan/upload, and code to the correct business category
- Prepare check and wire documentation and assemble supporting materials for distribution
- Review participation statements and route to forensic accounting or other internal contacts
- Open, sort, and distribute incoming mail to appropriate team members
- Maintain payment tracking logs and provide status updates on request
- Support collection, organization, and distribution of tax-related documents
- Set up clients, managers, and attorneys in the accounting platform to ensure accurate remittance routing
- Assist management with ad-hoc accounting and administrative tasks as priorities shift
- Escalate operational questions or issues to the Trust Accounting Operations Supervisor
- Help identify process improvements and support workflow or system updates
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (open to early career candidates)
- Demonstrated interest in accounting and willingness to learn trust accounting tasks
- Comfortable with repetitive, detail-heavy work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Ability to type at least 45 words per minute and use 10-key by touch efficiently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate across teams
- Reliable, highly organized, and able to handle confidential information with good judgment
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred / nice-to-have
- Previous exposure to the entertainment industry or entertainment accounting
- Prior experience with payment processing, check/wire workflows, or trust accounting
- Familiarity with accounting platforms or case-management systems
- Experience working under shifting priorities and tight timelines
Location & schedule
- On-site in Pico Heights / West Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA) — local candidates preferred
- Long-term contract with potential to convert to permanent hire
- Full-time hours; schedule details will be provided during the interview process
Compensation & benefits
- Estimated annual pay (market estimate): $69,524 per year — actual compensation offered by the Confidential Client may vary based on experience and role type
- Contract professionals may be eligible for benefits depending on placement (medical, dental, vision, etc.) — details provided by the hiring team
