Confidential Client is hiring a Travel Expense Analyst to audit and process high-volume business travel expense reports within a shared-service environment. This contract role supports compliance with company travel policy, GAAP, FAR, and IRS guidelines and requires hands-on experience with Costpoint / Deltek T&E and basic Excel reporting.


What You’ll Do

  • Audit high-volume business travel expense reports using the Costpoint Expense Reporting application.
  • Verify compliance with company travel policy/procedures, GAAP, FAR Part 31 cost principles, and IRS rules.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies and exceptions in expense reports.
  • Provide clear guidance to employees on expense policy and submission best practices.
  • Manage and process unprocessed expense transactions and travel advances.
  • Export/import reports in the AP module weekly and resolve project/account errors.
  • Post corrections and adjustments to expense reports when required.
  • Maintain foreign currency settings and perform currency conversions as needed.
  • Respond to employee inquiries via email and phone with a customer-service focus.
  • Support internal and external audits and participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Proactively identify process improvements and take on new tasks to add value to the team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience processing and auditing expense reports for a government contractor or similar environment.
  • 6+ months recent hands-on experience with Costpoint and Deltek T&E.
  • Basic Excel proficiency (using templates, sorting/filtering, simple formulas).
  • Working understanding of FAR Part 31 allowed vs. unallowed costs.
  • Familiarity with SOX controls or experience working in a public company environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and reliable follow-through.
  • Professional customer-service skills and the ability to support stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred / Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Currency conversion experience and comfort with multi-currency transactions.
  • Consistent employment history (minimal job hopping preferred).
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting and communicate clearly by phone and email.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • This is a 100% remote contract role; ideal candidates are located in the EST or CST time zones.
  • Standard hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM EST.
  • The role requires availability from the week after Thanksgiving through the first week of January for peak processing, with possible limited time off if team coverage allows.
  • Remote applicants must have a reliable internet connection and a professional home workspace.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour. Actual pay within this range will depend on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
