What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Transportation Planner / Design Engineer to support multimodal transportation planning and design work. This is a hands-on role where you'll support data collection, analysis, design drafting, and public engagement to advance safe, sustainable transportation projects.

  • Assist in the collection and analysis of transportation data, including traffic counts, travel behavior surveys, and demographic information
  • Conduct research and assist in evaluation of transportation projects, policies, and programs
  • Support the development of transportation plans, including safety plans, corridor studies, and multimodal plans
  • Collaborate with senior planners and engineers to analyze transportation issues and propose solutions
  • Contribute to preparation of reports, presentations, and technical documentation
  • Assist in coordination of public outreach activities, including community meetings and workshops
  • Support development of concept and final design drawings for transportation improvements
  • Assist with traffic impact assessments and other technical analyses
  • Use GIS, transportation modeling software and other tools to analyze data and support planning efforts
  • Keep current with emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory guidance in transportation planning

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, transportation planning, civil engineering, or a related field
  • Proficiency in GIS and familiarity with transportation modeling tools and Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity or proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to collect, interpret, and analyze transportation data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to prepare clear, concise reports and presentations
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on project teams
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines related to transportation planning
  • Interest in sustainable transportation practices (preferred)
  • Previous internship or relevant work experience is a plus

Compensation & Employment Type

  • Salary range: $65,000–$75,000 per year
  • Employment type: CONTRACTOR, FULL_TIME

Orchards, WA (on projects across the U.S. as assigned)
