Transportation Manager (Entry Level)
The Transportation Manager is responsible for managing and supervising a midsize driver team to ensure safe, timely freight movement and compliance with DOT regulations. This role involves load assignment, fleet operations analysis, customer service, and maintaining safety standards while working flexible shifts including nights and weekends. What You’ll Do
This role is an entry-level Transportation Manager position focused on driver management and day-to-day fleet operations. You will ensure safe, timely, and compliant freight movement while supporting customer expectations and operational profitability.
- Supervise and manage a midsize driver pool: assignments, scheduling, coverage across day/night/weekend shifts
- Assign loads, plan routes, and monitor freight movement to meet on-time service goals
- Enforce DOT regulations and company safety policies; run daily safety messages and periodic driver training
- Provide driver coaching, counseling, and accident reviews; resolve payroll or accessorial pay issues
- Manage yard operations: inspect equipment, oversee minor repairs or part replacements, and coordinate preventative maintenance with vendors
- Create and maintain customer-specific reporting, KPI tracking, and basic financial/operational analysis
- Support account-level activities including customer interactions (in-person or virtual), troubleshooting service issues, and special projects to optimize fleet profitability
- Perform routine administrative tasks: payroll support, invoicing, filing, and operational documentation
Who We’re Looking For
We want candidates who can combine hands-on operational sense with clear communication and customer focus.
- High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor’s in Business, Supply Chain, Transportation/Logistics preferred
- 1–3 years experience in transportation/logistics, account management, business administration, or equivalent military experience
- Demonstrated ability to work across multiple shifts (including nights/weekends) as operational needs require
- Strong professional communication skills and customer-facing experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Able to manage competing priorities, adapt to shifting directives, and travel consistently to customer/account locations
- Experience or comfort with analyzing operational data and recommending process improvements
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.; this position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship
Compensation & Schedule
- Employment type: Full-time
- Estimated pay: $77,652 per year (estimated)
- May be eligible for annual bonus/incentives per client bonus plan
- Shift flexibility required (day/night/weekend rotations possible)
