What You’ll Do
This entry-level Transportation Engineer-in-Training role will support the Transportation Practice of our Confidential Client. You will work under the direction of senior engineers and project managers to help deliver transportation design and construction documentation.
- Assist in the development and drafting of construction plans for transportation projects.
- Perform engineering calculations and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Prepare design and construction drawings using CADD tools and assist with drafting tasks.
- Coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines on project deliverables.
- Develop engineering reports, quantity takeoffs, and construction cost estimates.
- Support proposal preparation and site investigations as needed.
Who We’re Looking For
Candidates should be early-career transportation engineers with strong technical fundamentals, a desire to learn, and hands-on drafting/CADD familiarity.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships or co-ops encouraged).
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
- General knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit or similar design software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with good organizational skills and the ability to work on project teams.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain required certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience or familiarity with OpenRoads Designer.
- Understanding of AASHTO, MUTCD, and NACTO standards.
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification is desired.
- Previous internships or hands-on project experience in transportation engineering.
Compensation & Employment Type
- Estimated salary: $55,971 per year (estimated).
- Employment type: Full-time; Contractor engagements may be possible per project needs.
- Location: Houston, TX (work performed in the Houston area).
