Position overview

Confidential Client is seeking an Entry‑Level Transportation Engineer to join their Transportation Group in Mc Neil, TX. This role offers hands‑on experience in both highway and traffic engineering, close mentorship from senior engineers, and exposure to projects ranging from local intersection improvements to major interchange and corridor programs.

• Competitive pay range: $70,000 - $125,000 per year
• Employment type: Full‑time, Contractor

What you’ll do

As an Entry‑Level Transportation Engineer you will support design, analysis, and planning work across highway and traffic engineering tasks, including:

• Assist in development of roadway alignments, profiles, and typical sections
• Prepare construction plans for roadway geometrics, maintenance of traffic (MOT), and erosion/sediment control
• Perform drainage and stormwater design tasks in coordination with senior engineers
• Support traffic designs: signals, ITS/TSMO devices, signing, pavement markings, roadway lighting, and work zone traffic control
• Run traffic operational and capacity analyses using tools such as HCS, Synchro, SIDRA, or PTV products (VISSIM/VISTRO/VISUM)
• Provide data and analysis support for travel demand modeling (e.g., CUBE, TransModeler)
• Conduct Highway Safety Manual (HSM)‑based safety analyses and crash data reviews using HSS, IHSDM, ISATe, PennDOT HSM tools, etc.
• Support traffic signal and ITS operations and system documentation
• Contribute to transportation planning studies for multimodal systems (roadway, transit, bicycle, pedestrian, freight)
• Use design software (MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD) to produce plan sets and 3D models
• Prepare construction specifications, quantity calculations, and cost estimates
• Contribute to technical reports, agency submissions, and public/ client meeting materials
• Coordinate with internal design disciplines (structures, utilities, environmental) and participate in occasional site visits

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Civil or Transportation Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program; students nearing degree completion are encouraged to apply
• 0–4 years of relevant experience; internships or co‑op experience preferred
• Experience or coursework with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD preferred
• Familiarity with traffic analysis and modeling tools (HCS, Synchro, SIDRA, VISSIM, CUBE, TransModeler) is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and work collaboratively
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification preferred
• Experience with electrical/communications systems is an asset

• Salary range (good‑faith estimate): $70,000 — $125,000 per year (actual offer will vary based on experience, skills, and location)
