What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an Entry-Level Transportation Engineer based in Arsenal, PA. This role offers structured mentorship and hands-on experience across highway and traffic engineering tasks. You’ll work with senior engineers on projects that include intersection improvements, interchange and corridor programs, and multimodal transportation planning for public- and private-sector clients across the region.
- Assist with highway engineering tasks: roadway alignments, profiles, typical sections, MOT, and erosion/sediment control.
- Prepare construction plans and support drainage/stormwater design in coordination with senior staff.
- Support traffic engineering designs: signals, ITS/TSMO devices, signing, pavement markings, lighting, and work zone traffic control.
- Conduct traffic operational and capacity analyses using tools such as HCS, Synchro, SIDRA, or PTV products (VISSIM/VISTRO/VISUM).
- Provide data and analysis support for travel demand modeling (e.g., CUBE, TransModeler).
- Perform Highway Safety Manual (HSM) based safety analyses and traditional crash-data review.
- Use design software (MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD) to produce plan sets and 3D models.
- Prepare specifications, quantity calculations, cost estimates, and contribute to technical reports.
- Assist with client and public meeting materials and agency submissions.
- Coordinate across disciplines (structures, utilities, environmental) and participate in occasional site visits and permitting/utility research.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil or Transportation Engineering from an ABET-accredited program — candidates actively pursuing a degree or with other related engineering/applied science degrees are encouraged to apply.
- 0–4 years of relevant experience; internships or co-op experience preferred.
- Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD is preferred.
- Familiarity with traffic analysis software (HCS, Synchro, SIDRA, VISSIM, VISTRO, VISUM) and travel demand/modeling tools is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of drainage and stormwater design principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage multiple assignments.
- Positive, collaborative attitude and willingness to learn.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
- Experience with electrical/communication system design is an asset.
Compensation & Authorization
- Employment type: Full-Time (Contractor)
- Salary range (good-faith estimate): $70,000 — $125,000 per year
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. Confidential Client will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work visas for this role.
