What You’ll Do
This entry-level Transportation Engineer Associate role supports construction and quality assurance for roadway and bridge projects. You will work in the field and the office under experienced professional engineers to ensure safe, on-time, on-budget delivery of transportation projects for the confidential client.
- Lead inspections and coordinate complex roadway and bridge construction to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
- Produce accurate daily diaries, inspection reports, summaries, and payment measurements.
- Organize and drive project coordination meetings with contractors, utilities, and internal stakeholders.
- Review and verify contract documents, plans, and technical materials for constructability and accuracy.
- Provide technical input to the Resident Construction Engineer (RCE) and manage key project administration tasks.
- Perform on-site testing and measurements using industry-standard equipment; lift and handle materials safely (up to 65 lbs).
- Identify construction issues early, recommend corrective actions, and make timely decisions to keep projects moving.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet at least one of the following:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in chemical, civil, construction, environmental, materials, mechanics, structural, or transportation engineering or in engineering management.
- Possession of a verification of expected graduation with major coursework in one of the fields listed above (must graduate within 10 months of hire).
Additional Requirements & Certifications
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Engineer certificate from the Iowa State Board of Engineering Examiners must be obtained within 24 months of hire.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required within 6 years for continued employment in this classification.
- Must obtain and maintain certifications such as Aggregate Technician, PCC 1 & 2, HMA 1, and Erosion Control Technician.
- Comfortable working outdoors in variable weather, sometimes nights, weekends, or holidays; travel to project sites required.
Work Schedule, Location & Salary
- Location: Manchester, IA
- Core work schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:45 AM to 3:30 PM. Occasional night work, weekends, holidays, overtime, and varied shifts may be required.
- Fieldwork and travel between project sites are part of the role.
- Salary range: $66,830.40 – $103,500.80 per year (salary range as provided by the confidential client).
