Engineer/Engineering Technologist/Transmission SCADA Engineering
This role involves performing intermediate-level engineering tasks focused on Transmission SCADA systems, including RPA development, RTU configuration, and alarm settings for both new and existing projects. The engineer supports process improvements, ensures SCADA compliance, and provides guidance to junior staff while collaborating with stakeholders to resolve technical issues. The position requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology and is based on-site in Ohio or Oklahoma.

What You’ll Do
This role supports transmission SCADA engineering and related field engineering activities. Responsibilities include:
- Configure and commission RTUs, including work on both new (greenfield) and legacy (brownfield) systems.
- Develop, test and complete RPA and automation tasks for SCADA-related processes; troubleshoot new and legacy integrations.
- Implement alarm and I/O 2411 settings and validate I/O behavior for projects.
- Support communications technologies (legacy sync/async protocols and utilities used by the client) and help resolve common SCADA communications issues.
- Apply and implement SCADA and engineering standards; assist with compliance activities and documentation.
- Analyze interrelationships between systems and components; recommend process and tool improvements.
- Coordinate and, when required, guide the work of other engineers or technicians on routine engineering tasks.
- Provide training and on-the-job guidance to less experienced staff.
- Participate in project cost inputs, planning tasks, and routine forecasting related to assigned projects.
- Use problem-solving skills to resolve routine and moderately complex issues; escalate and document problems beyond scope.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to support project delivery.

Engineer / Engineering Technologist — Associate (SG6)

- Entry-level role for new graduates.

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program (or equivalent as described below).

- Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is encouraged and preferred.
Engineer / Engineering Technologist (SG7)

- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program plus two or more years of related engineering experience.

- A master’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program may qualify candidates for this level.

- Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology may be considered if they obtain a Professional Engineering (PE) license.
Additional preferred skills and experience (applicable to both levels):

- Hands-on experience with RTU configuration and SCADA system workflows.

- Familiarity with alarm management and I/O configuration (e.g., 2411 settings).

- Experience or willingness to learn legacy communication protocols (async/sync) and client-specific tools.

- Strong analytical skills and ability to apply engineering theory to practical system issues.

- Comfortable working on-site and interacting with field and engineering teams.

- Demonstrated ability to document work, follow standards, and support compliance activities.
Education equivalencies and notes:

- A degree in engineering technology is acceptable for certain roles; PE licensure may be required for some engineering-technology entrants.

- VP-level exceptions may be considered in special cases.

Compensation & Benefits
- Engineer / Engineering Technologist SG6: $84,000 - $90,000 per year (range shown in source).
- Engineer / Engineering Technologist SG7: $89,000 - $110,000 per year (range shown in source).
