What You’ll Do

Responsible for performing advanced transmission planning engineering work and studies to help ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation and expansion of the transmission system.

  • Perform load-flow, congestion and short‑circuit studies and other transmission planning analyses.
  • Use industry tools such as PSS/E, PROMOD, TARA and Aspen (familiarity preferred) for technical studies.
  • Participate in competitive transmission windows and congestion analysis related to generation acquisition.
  • Conduct area‑wide and regional studies to identify reliability deficiencies and recommend system improvements.
  • Prepare clear technical reports, study documentation, and stakeholder presentations that support policy and financial decisions.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with other engineering disciplines, operations, regulatory, and commercial teams.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers and escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Maintain meticulous study notes and documentation to support analyses and project justification.

Qualifications

Note: This role is posted across multiple grade levels (Engineer Assc through Engineer Staff). Minimums below describe the Engineer Assc (entry) level; higher grades require additional experience, education, and/or licensure.

Required (Engineer Assc - entry-level)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and proficiency with common engineering math and analysis techniques.
  • Comfortable preparing technical presentations and communicating study results to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn industry software tools and utility planning practices quickly.

Preferred / For higher grades

  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) passed or working toward PE licensure; PE registration preferred for senior roles.
  • Experience or coursework in power systems analysis, economics, or utility planning.
  • Hands‑on experience with PSS/E, PROMOD, TARA, Aspen, or similar tools.
  • 2+ years related experience for mid-level Engineer; 4+ years (or advanced degree) for senior roles; 8–10+ years for principal/staff levels depending on grade.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving initiative, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to lead study efforts.

Compensation & Benefits

This job is posted at multiple grade levels. Listed pay ranges reflect the grades in the original posting and the overall compensation band.

  • Engineer Assc (Grade 6): $84,000
  • Engineer (Grade 7): $86,000 – $105,000
  • Engineer Sr (Grade 8): $98,993 – $124,940
  • Engineer Prin (Grade 9): $116,255 – $145,000
  • Engineer Staff (Grade 10): $145,000 – $160,000

Compensation data (posting range): $74,551.00 – $177,503.00 (annual). In addition to competitive pay, our client offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employee well‑being and career development.


Location & Work Type

  • On‑site in New Albany, OH or Tulsa, OK (not a remote role).
  • Employment Type: Full‑time.
