Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Transmission Line Engineer (Transmission Line Engineering Staff I) to join the Transmission & Structural team within Energy Services. This is a development-focused, full-time role based in Houston, TX. You will work under the direction of senior engineers supporting overhead transmission line design, PLS tool modeling, calculations, drawing production, and gaining the mentorship needed to grow into independent project responsibilities.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with transmission line design and PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER modeling under senior staff direction
- Perform structure loading, sag-tension, and clearance calculations with senior review
- Prepare plan-and-profile drawings, structure lists, and material lists
- Support field data collection, LiDAR-based modeling, and as-built verification
- Compile calculation packages and assist in QA/checking project deliverables
- Coordinate with structural, civil, and geotechnical teams on assigned tasks
- Participate in formal training, mentorship, and professional development programs
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering (or closely related field)
- 0–4 years of engineering experience; internship or co-op experience welcomed
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or equivalent
- Foundational knowledge of structural analysis and engineering design principles
- Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and clear written and verbal communication
- Interest in pursuing PE licensure and a long-term transmission engineering career
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred / Helpful Experience
- Coursework, internship, or co-op experience in power / transmission, structural, or utility engineering
- Exposure to PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, AutoCAD, or MicroStation
- Familiarity with NESC or ASCE (e.g., ASCE 10, 74, 113) design standards
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $67,000 - $77,000 per year
