Role overview
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Transmission Line Engineer (Transmission Line Engineering Staff I) to join their Transmission & Structural team within Energy Services in San Diego, TX. This is a development-focused position supporting overhead transmission line design, PLS-CADD/PLS-POLE/PLS-TOWER modeling, structure loading and sag-tension calculations, drawing preparation, and field/data support under senior staff guidance. Ideal for recent graduates or engineers with up to 4 years' experience who hold or are pursuing EIT certification and long-term PE ambitions.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with transmission line design and modeling using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER under senior staff direction
- Perform structure loading, sag-tension, and clearance calculations with senior review
- Prepare plan-and-profile drawings, structure lists, and material lists
- Support field data collection, LiDAR-based modeling, and as-built verification
- Compile calculation packages and help check project deliverables
- Coordinate with structural, civil, and geotechnical team members on assigned tasks
- Participate in mentorship, training, and professional development programs
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field
- 0–4 years of engineering experience; internships or co-ops welcomed
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred or in-progress
- Foundational knowledge of structural analysis and engineering design principles
- Strong attention to detail, eagerness to learn, and effective written/verbal communication
- Preferred: coursework or experience in power/transmission, structural, or utility engineering
- Preferred exposure to PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, AutoCAD, or MicroStation
- Familiarity with NESC or ASCE design standards is a plus
- Interest in pursuing PE licensure and a long-term career in transmission engineering
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $67,000 — $77,000 per year (salary transparency provided)
- Employment type: Contract / Full-time
