What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Transmission Line Engineer to contribute to the design and delivery of transmission and distribution projects. This role lets you apply fundamentals of transmission line engineering and collaborate across technical teams.

  • Design transmission lines in the 69 kV to 765 kV range.
  • Prepare construction sketches for overhead and underground network services (4 kV through 34 kV).
  • Perform structural analysis and design of pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.
  • Perform foundation design for transmission structures.
  • Conduct conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction studies.
  • Model transmission lines in PLS‑CADD to determine ROW requirements, calculate conductor sags, and produce plan/profile drawings.
  • Develop cost estimates, schedules, and technical specifications for procurement of materials and construction.
  • Review vendor submittals and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate design intent in written and verbal form.

Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering preferred. Other degrees considered if coursework includes civil, geotechnical, strength of materials, statics, and electrical power.
  • Related engineering internship, co-op, or entry-level work experience.
  • Proficiency with PLS‑CADD, PLS‑POLE, AutoCAD, PoleForeman, and ArcGIS.
  • Working knowledge of transmission line engineering principles and physical distribution design methods.
  • Ability to produce technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred / Valued Skills

  • Degree from an ABET‑accredited engineering program.
  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam; EIT designation.
  • Familiarity with PLS‑TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, CDEGS, MicroStation, or GIS tools.
  • Experience preparing engineering calculations and supporting documentation.
  • Experience with utility distribution inspections and/or construction.
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards (NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318).
  • Programming or scripting (Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to support automation is valued but not required.

Work Arrangement

  • Hybrid: typically 3 days per week in the office and 2 days remote.
  • Relocation assistance may be available depending on candidate location.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation Range: $62,998 - $90,586 (base salary range).
