What You’ll Do
- Apply transmission line engineering fundamentals to the design, analysis, and specification of overhead and underground power delivery systems (69 kV to 765 kV).
- Prepare construction sketches and detailed plan/profile drawings for transmission and distribution projects.
- Perform structural analysis and design for pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures and their foundations.
- Model lines in PLS‑CADD to determine right‑of‑way needs, calculate conductor sag/tension, and evaluate clearances.
- Conduct conductor selection, shielding, grounding, induction, and other electrical studies.
- Develop cost estimates, schedules, procurement specifications, and review vendor submittals.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, produce engineering deliverables, and document technical work clearly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (preferred) or Master of Science in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering; other degrees considered if coursework includes civil/geotechnical, strength of materials, statics, and electrical power.
- Relevant engineering internship, co‑op, or entry-level work experience.
- Proficiency with PLS‑CADD, PLS‑POLE, AutoCAD, PoleForeman, and ArcGIS.
- Working knowledge of transmission line engineering principles and engineering production processes.
- Proficiency with MS Office and strong written/verbal communication skills.

Valued (but not required)
- ABET‑accredited BS or MS degree.
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam; Engineer‑in‑Training designation.
- Experience with PLS‑TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, CDEGS, Microstation, GIS software.
- Programming or scripting (Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations or reporting.
- Experience in utility distribution inspections, construction, and familiarity with codes/standards (NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318).
Work Arrangement
- Hybrid schedule: typically three days per week in the office and up to two days remote.
- Relocation assistance may be available depending on candidate location.
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation Range: $62,998 - $90,586 per year.
