What You’ll Do
This entry-level Transmission Line Engineer role gives you hands-on experience designing and supporting high-voltage transmission and distribution projects. You will apply engineering fundamentals to real-world power-delivery work across a range of voltages and structure types.
- Design transmission lines in the 69 kV to 765 kV range.
- Prepare construction sketches for overhead and underground network services (4 kV through 34 kV).
- Perform structural analysis and design for pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.
- Complete foundation designs for transmission structures.
- Perform conductor selection studies and calculate conductor sag; model shielding, grounding, and induction.
- Model transmission lines in PLS‑CADD and produce plan/profile drawings; determine right-of-way requirements.
- Develop cost estimates, schedules, specifications, and review vendor submittals.
- Coordinate with project teams and communicate technical work clearly in written and verbal form.
What We’re Looking For
Our client seeks an early-career engineer with relevant academic background and practical exposure to transmission-line concepts and design tools.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering preferred (other degrees with relevant coursework considered).
- Internship, co-op, or related engineering experience is desirable.
- Proficiency with PLS‑CADD, PLS‑POLE, AutoCAD, PoleForeman, and ArcGIS.
- Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals applicable to transmission line and distribution design.
- Proficiency with MS Office; strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; our client does not sponsor work authorization for this position.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- ABET-accredited BS or MS degree.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) passed and Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation.
- Experience with PLS‑TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, CDEGS, MicroStation, or other GIS tools.
- Experience preparing engineering calculation documentation and utility construction/inspection exposure.
- Familiarity with design codes and standards: NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318.
Location & Work Model
- Work location: Lake Mary, FL (hybrid).
- Typical on-site expectation: three days per week in the office, two days remote.
- Relocation assistance may be available depending on candidate location.
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation range (base): $62,998 - $90,586 per year.
