Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Transmission Line Engineer 1 to support transmission and distribution engineering projects. This hybrid position (3 days in-office / 2 days remote) is based in Lake Mary, FL and focuses on design, analysis, modeling and specification of overhead and underground transmission and distribution systems.


What You’ll Do

  • Design transmission lines in the 69 kV to 765 kV range.
  • Prepare construction sketches for overhead and underground network services (4 kV through 34 kV).
  • Perform structural analysis and design of pole, lattice, framed and guyed structures.
  • Perform foundation designs for line structures.
  • Conduct conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction analyses.
  • Model transmission lines in PLS‑CADD, determine right‑of‑way requirements, calculate conductor sag, and produce plan/profile drawings.
  • Develop cost estimates, schedules and specifications for procurement of transmission/distribution materials and construction.
  • Specify transmission and distribution components and review vendor submittals.
  • Use automation and modern tools to streamline engineering workflows and improve accuracy.

Qualifications (Essential)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred; other degrees considered if relevant coursework completed (civil, geotechnical, strength of materials, statics, electrical power).
  • Related engineering internship, co‑op or early-career experience.
  • Proficiency with PLS‑CADD, PLS‑POLE, AutoCAD, PoleForeman, and ArcGIS.
  • Familiarity with engineering principles for transmission lines and distribution design.
  • Ability to produce technical plans, drawings and models.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred / Valuable Skills

  • BS or MS from an ABET‑accredited engineering program.
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam; EIT designation.
  • Experience with PLS‑TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, CDEGS, MicroStation, or other GIS/CAD software.
  • Experience preparing engineering calculation documentation and supporting construction or inspection activities.
  • Familiarity with codes/standards: NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318.
  • Programming or scripting (Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to support automation — valued but not required.
  • Training or coursework in CS/AI/Software Engineering helpful for automation and agentic‑AI tool usage (with engineering judgment and verification).

Work Arrangement & Relocation

  • Hybrid: typically 3 days per week in the office and 2 days remote.
  • Relocation assistance may be available depending on candidate location.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation range: $62,998 – $90,586 (base salary).
