Position Summary

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Transmission Line Design Engineer to join their engineering team in the Virginia Foothills, NV area. This role is ideal for December 2026 or May 2027 civil engineering graduates who want hands-on transmission line design experience, mentorship from licensed Professional Engineers (PEs), and field exposure. Applicants must live locally (Virginia Foothills / Reno metro) to support periodic site visits.


Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze transmission line systems, including structures, conductors, and foundations.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, material lists, calculations, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to verify constructability and compliance with safety and design standards.
  • Collaborate with utility clients, project managers, contractors, and other engineers to support successful project delivery across Nevada and other U.S. regions.
  • Use modeling and simulation tools for transmission-line performance (PLS‑CADD, PLS‑POLE — training provided).
  • Stay current with industry standards, codes, and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (completed or expected by May 2027).
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or plan to pass the FE exam within the first year.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and traveling to project sites.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Must reside in the Virginia Foothills / Reno metro area to support field work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework in structural and/or geotechnical engineering.
  • Internship, co-op, or hands-on experience in civil, structural, or utility-related work.
  • Any exposure to transmission-line design software (e.g., PLS‑CADD, PLS‑POLE).
