Position Overview

Confidential Client (Engineering) is hiring an entry-level Transmission Line Design Engineer to join their Reno, NV team. This role focuses on designing and analyzing transmission line structures, conductors, and foundations and supporting construction activities. You will begin on regional projects in northern Nevada with opportunities to work on utility projects across the U.S. Mentorship from licensed PEs and hands-on field experience are core to this role.


Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze transmission line systems, including structures, conductors, and foundations
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, material lists, calculations, specifications, and reports
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to verify compliance with design standards and safety requirements
  • Coordinate with utility clients, project managers, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to support project delivery in Nevada and nationwide
  • Use modeling and simulation software for transmission line performance (PLS‑CADD, PLS‑POLE — training provided)
  • Keep current with industry standards, codes, and best practices

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (completed or expected by May 2027)
  • EIT certification or intent to pass the FE exam within the first year
  • Comfortable working outdoors and able to travel to project sites
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must reside in or near Reno, NV to support periodic field visits

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework in structural or geotechnical engineering
  • Internship or co-op experience in civil, structural, or utility engineering
  • Any exposure to transmission line design or analysis tools (e.g., PLS‑CADD, PLS‑POLE)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and collaborative mindset
