What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking Transmission Estimating Engineers at multiple seniority levels (Engineer Associate, Engineer, Engineer Sr.) to join an on-site estimating team in Hazelwood, IN. You will produce high-quality, defensible cost estimates for transmission line and substation projects, maintain estimating models and databases, and collaborate across engineering, project management, planning, construction, and procurement to drive accurate scoping and cost forecasting.
- Perform detailed and conceptual cost estimates for transmission line and substation projects that are safe, efficient, and economical
- Gather, validate, and integrate cost data into master estimating cost models and databases
- Define and document estimate bases, assumptions, contingencies, and scope boundaries
- Work with project sponsors and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and refine project scope and estimate deliverables
- Analyze historical cost records and provide recommendations for design or specification alternatives to improve cost effectiveness
- Maintain and improve estimating software, resource and assembly cost data, and standard estimating processes
- Provide technical guidance on estimate approach, assumptions, and resolution of estimate issues
- Support continuous improvement of scoping and estimating procedures and tools
- Demonstrate and uphold high standards of ethical behavior and regulatory/compliance requirements
Who We’re Looking For
Openings are available across three grade levels. Qualifications are listed by level — applicants should apply to the level matching their education and experience.
Engineer Associate (Grade 06)
- Entry-level role for recent graduates
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required; acceptable alternative pathways are listed below
- Passing or preparing for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is encouraged
Engineer (Grade 07)
- Typically 2–4 years of related engineering experience plus a Bachelor’s degree in engineering (ABET-accredited)
- Candidates with a Master’s from an ABET-accredited program may be considered at this level
Engineer Sr. (Grade 08)
- Typically 4+ years of related engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree (ABET-accredited), or 2+ years with a Master’s/PhD
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is encouraged and preferred
Acceptable alternative for degree requirements: a non-ABET Bachelor’s in engineering combined with a Master’s or PhD from a university that has an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s program. Senior leadership may waive specific accreditation requirements in select cases based on relevant qualifications and experience.
Required / preferred skills and attributes (across levels)
- Solid analytic and cost-modeling skills; experience with estimating software is a plus
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional teams
- Ability to review designs/specifications for constructability and cost-effectiveness
- Attention to detail; rigorous documentation of estimate basis and assumptions
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and ethical standards
Location & Work Type
- On-site in Hazelwood, IN (role supports operations within the client’s service territory). Candidates must be able to work from the assigned office as required.

Reported pay ranges from the source posting:
- Engineer Associate: $84,000
- Engineer: $86,000 – $105,000
- Engineer Sr.: $98,993 – $124,940
Compensation grade and range (source): SP20-006 — $74,551.00 - $128,688.00
Final grade and compensation will be based on the chosen candidate’s education, experience, and relevant skills. Pay and benefits will comply with applicable state and federal law.
