What You’ll Do
- Design transmission lines in the 69 kV to 765 kV range.
- Prepare construction sketches for overhead and underground network services (4 kV through 34 kV).
- Perform structural analysis and complete design for pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.
- Design foundations for transmission structures.
- Perform conductor selection studies and complete shielding, grounding, and induction studies.
- Model transmission lines using PLS-CADD to determine right-of-way needs, calculate conductor sag, and produce plan & profile drawings.
- Develop cost estimates, schedules, and procurement specifications for transmission and distribution materials and construction.
- Review vendor submittals and approve technical documentation.
- Apply automation and modern tools (including appropriate use of AI) to streamline engineering workflows and reduce rework.
- Use programming or scripting (Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel, etc.) where appropriate to automate calculations, reporting, or data transformation.
Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering preferred. Other engineering degrees considered if coursework includes civil, geotechnical, strength of materials, statics, and electrical power.
- Related engineering internship, co-op, or early-career experience.
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, AutoCAD, PoleForeman, and ArcGIS.
- Practical knowledge of transmission line engineering and physical distribution design methods.
- Experience producing technical plans, drawings, and models.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; the client does not sponsor work authorization for this position.
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam passed; Engineer-in-Training designation.
- Familiarity with PLS-TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, CDEGS, MicroStation, or other GIS/CAD software.
- Experience preparing engineering calculation documentation and technical reports.
- Experience in utility distribution inspections and/or field construction.
- Knowledge of design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
Work Arrangement & Location
- Hybrid role based in Hamilton Square, NJ — expected to be in the office three days per week with two remote days.
- Employment type: Full-time (contractor engagement may apply as noted).
- Dependent on location, a relocation package may be available.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $62,998 - $90,586 per year (posted range; final offer may vary based on experience and location).
