Role Overview

This entry-level Transmission & Distribution Engineer role supports transmission line and distribution engineering tasks for our confidential client. The position is full-time, offers a hybrid schedule (three days in-office, two days remote), and may include a relocation package depending on candidate location.

What You’ll Do

You will apply core transmission and distribution engineering knowledge to design, analyze, document, and support construction of power delivery infrastructure. Typical responsibilities include:

• Design transmission lines (69 kV to 765 kV) and prepare plan/profile drawings
• Prepare construction sketches for overhead and underground distribution (4 kV–34 kV)
• Perform structural analysis and design for poles, lattice towers, framed and guyed structures
• Perform foundation design for poles and structures
• Conduct conductor selection, sag calculations, shielding, grounding, and induction studies
• Model transmission lines in PLS‑CADD and determine right-of-way requirements
• Develop cost estimates, schedules, and procurement specifications for materials and construction
• Review vendor submittals and support construction/inspection activities as needed
• Use or develop automation and scripting to reduce rework and improve productivity

Work Arrangement & Location

• Hybrid work arrangement: expected three days per week in the office and up to two days remote.
• Location: Cranberry Township, PA (zip 16066).
• Relocation assistance: may be offered depending on your current location.

Compensation

• Base salary range: $62,998 — $90,586 per year.
• The total compensation package includes benefits and may include discretionary bonus eligibility.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering preferred. Other degrees with relevant coursework (civil, geotechnical, strength of materials, statics, electrical power) will be considered.
• Related engineering internships, co‑ops, or relevant project experience.
• Proficiency with PLS‑CADD, PLS‑POLE, AutoCAD, PoleForeman, and ArcGIS.
• Competence with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to apply engineering judgment and verify outputs when using automation or AI-assisted tools.

Valued (but not required) Skills

• Degree from an ABET‑accredited engineering program.
• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) passed and EIT designation.
• Experience with PLS‑TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, CDEGS, MicroStation, or GIS tools.
• Scripting or programming experience (Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations and reporting.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards (NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318).
• Experience in utility distribution inspections or construction, and documenting engineering calculations.
