What You’ll Do

The Transactional Auditor I performs routine to complex transactional audits to verify statutory and procedural compliance for licensed operators. You will analyze reports, investigate policy and legal issues, prepare audit findings, and work with operators to resolve discrepancies and improve compliance.

  • Analyze and verify reports submitted by licensed operators; make documentary and/or monetary adjustments
  • Investigate legal and policy questions related to audits
  • Prepare clear audit reports with findings and recommendations
  • Resolve audits to bring licensed operators into compliance
  • Identify recurring error trends and escalate to management
  • Participate in phone and email support as needed
  • Train new licensed operators (Level II) and assist training new employees (Level II/III)
  • Review completed audits for accuracy and compliance (Level III)
  • Help update division policies and procedures (Level III)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, confidentiality standards, and ethical behavior
  • Familiarity with modern office methods, accounting systems, and audit tools
  • Ability to review and analyze accounting records and business practices
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive materials with discretion
  • Able to work effectively in a team and contribute to program objectives
  • For higher levels: capacity to perform complex accounting, auditing, and fiscal procedures independently

Level Descriptors

  • Level I — Entry level. Performs routine audits, assists with more complex audits as a team member; training status to build audit skills.
  • Level II — Full performance. Independently completes a wide range of audits; plans, schedules, conducts audits and prepares reports; may train or provide limited supervision.
  • Level III — Subject-matter expert. Handles advanced or unusually complex audits; reviews others’ work and updates policies/procedures.

Education & Experience

Preferred minimum qualifications:

Level I

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business/public administration, or related field
  • OR equivalent combination of education and experience

Level II

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business/public administration, or related field PLUS 1 year bookkeeping/auditing/accounting or similar
  • OR equivalent combination of education and experience

Level III

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business/public administration, or related field PLUS 2 years bookkeeping/auditing/accounting or similar
  • OR equivalent combination of education and experience

Compensation & Benefits

  • This position has an annual rate of $47,379.07.
  • Generous benefits package including a benefits allowance for medical/dental/vision, life and disability insurance.
  • Employer match up to 7% toward a Defined Contribution retirement plan.
  • Paid time off: 11 paid holidays, 15 days paid annual leave (increases with service), 15 days paid sick leave, plus longevity payments.

Work Schedule & Travel

  • Schedule may vary and require flexibility (early/late shifts, weekends, occasional overtime).
  • Occasional travel may be required; reliable local transportation may be needed.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office setting with regular computer use.
