What You’ll Do

This entry-level Tool Designer II role supports product design for involute-type cutting tools. You will work under direct supervision to complete standard designs and assist on special projects.

  • Design involute-type tools for one or more product families (hobs, milling cutters, shaper cutters, bevel cutters).
  • Produce tool specifications and manufacturing parameters for customer quotations.
  • Participate in detailed technical meetings and phone calls with internal teams and external customers.
  • Collaborate with sales and manufacturing to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Independently complete standard involute designs and contribute to non-standard tool styles.
  • Manage workload to meet established deadlines and quality standards.
  • Use company tool-design software and Microsoft Office to document designs and communications.

What We’re Looking For

Minimum qualifications and requirements for safe consideration:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • Entry-level candidate (design experience may include internships, co-ops, coursework, or prior roles).
  • Understanding of involute gear/tool geometry and at least one non-standard tool style.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with customers, sales, and manufacturing.
  • Attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate specifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with CAD or specialized tool-design software is a plus.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Compensation

  • Estimated base salary: $75,499 per year (estimated). Actual compensation may vary based on experience and location. This listing complies with applicable pay-transparency requirements where required.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Coursework or hands-on experience with hobs, milling cutters, shaper cutters, or bevel cutters.
  • Prior exposure to tool-quoting processes or manufacturing shop-floor practices.
  • Experience with CAD, inspection tools, or domain-specific tool-design software.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple assignments.

Location & Work Type

  • Full-time, on-site role in Loves Park, IL. Candidates should be able to commute or relocate as needed.
