What You'll Do
The Practice Manager for Thoracic Surgery will run day-to-day ambulatory operations for a single-site or small multi-site thoracic surgery practice. You will lead administrative and clinical support teams, partner with clinical leaders to improve access and workflows, and ensure compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
- Manage administrative and clinical staff: hiring, orientation, scheduling, performance reviews, and corrective action.
- Oversee practice operations, including payroll oversight, purchasing, supply inventory, and facilities coordination.
- Coordinate OR and clinic scheduling (thoracic block schedules, robotic blocks) and supervise central scheduling staff.
- Monitor operational metrics (admissions, OR stats, utilization) and implement improvement plans to increase access and efficiency.
- Serve as primary contact for environmental, safety, and facility issues; ensure compliance with JCAHO, HIPAA, OSHA, and internal policies.
- Collaborate with IS for hardware/software, access, and troubleshooting; act as custodian for division-owned systems.
- Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives (telehealth adoption, streamlined surgical scheduling, new patient volume growth).
- Manage patient complaints and ensure timely resolution.
- Support ambulatory-wide initiatives through coordination with Ambulatory Management Services and senior operations leadership.
- Provide oversight for affiliated sites and participate in site visits when requested.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required (experience may be accepted in lieu of degree).
- 5–7 years supervisory experience and 5–7 years experience working in a healthcare environment required.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills; experience supervising clinical and administrative staff.
- Knowledge of physician billing, revenue cycle management, and accounting principles.
- Excellent communication, organization, time management, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Excel).
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects concurrently.
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay range: $65,998.40 - $96,033.60 per year (base salary). Actual pay will be determined by the confidential client based on factors such as skills, experience, and education.
