What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level Thermal Test Engineer role based onsite in Campbell, CA. You will perform hands-on thermal and acoustics testing and validation for electro-mechanical and telecom products in a lab setting. The role supports product design validation, cooling and power-management optimization, and compliance testing to telecom industry standards.

  • Prepare and execute comprehensive thermal test setups, including detailed test flows and coverage plans for new products.
  • Instrument prototypes (thermocouples, sensors) and set up wind tunnel and airflow/acoustics tests.
  • Perform thermal validation testing on electro-mechanical assemblies: evaluate power management, heat sinks, fan performance, and cooling solutions.
  • Run telecom equipment tests and apply standards such as GR and NEBS to validate compliance and reliability.
  • Use thermal simulation tools (e.g., Flotherm) to model and correlate thermal behavior with test data.
  • Measure, analyze, and report airflow and acoustics results; recommend design changes to improve cooling and noise performance.
  • Document test procedures, record results, and communicate findings with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Support continuous improvement of lab processes, test methods, and validation practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience in thermal and acoustics testing of electro-mechanical products (internships or practical lab experience welcome).
  • Familiarity with telecom test standards such as GR and NEBS and their application in product validation.
  • Ability to set up and instrument prototypes, install thermocouples, and operate wind-tunnel or airflow test equipment.
  • Solid understanding of heat transfer, airflow, and acoustics principles.
  • Experience developing and executing structured test plans and analyzing test data.
  • Proficiency with thermal analysis tools (Flotherm or similar) and basic data analysis skills (Python is a plus).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with mechanical CAD tools such as CREO.
  • Prior exposure to telecom equipment, power-management systems, or cooling-system development.
  • Basic scripting or test automation experience (Python) to streamline data capture and analysis.
  • Any prior experience as a thermal validation engineer or in a product lab environment.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • This is a fully onsite, Monday–Friday laboratory role in Campbell, CA. Expect hands-on work with prototypes and test equipment.
  • Position type: Long-term contract with opportunities to convert to full-time based on performance and business needs.
  • You will work closely with design and systems engineering teams in a collaborative lab environment focused on product validation and continuous improvement.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour. Individual pay within this range will depend on qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.
