What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level Thermal and Fluid Systems Engineer role supporting a confidential client in powertrain and engine technology. You will apply thermal-fluid science, simulation, and experimental methods to help develop efficient, low-emission engine and powertrain solutions.

  • Investigate thermal-, fluid- and emissions-related product, subsystem and system issues; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Perform and interpret simulations and experiments using tools such as GT-Suite/GT‑Power, Boost, Fluent, Converge, and virtual application models.
  • Support engine and component testing, including emissions audits, test setup, data collection, calibration support, and in-loop ECM bench testing as required.
  • Analyze test and simulation data using statistical methods and tools (regression, DOE, ANOVA) to support data-driven decisions.
  • Document results, prepare technical reports, and communicate findings to engineers, project leads, manufacturing partners, and suppliers.
  • Contribute to product development processes (PPP, PPT, VPI/VPC, ESW, FEP) and support continuous improvement of engineering practices and tools.
  • Work on problem resolution for moderately complex components and systems with growing technical independence.
  • Coordinate work with technicians or temporary students when required; collaborate across functions to meet project goals.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field (required).
  • Entry-level / early career (designed for candidates within 2 years of degree completion); internships, co-ops, or relevant project experience preferred.
  • Understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and energy conversion systems (IC engines, turbines, fuel cells, batteries).
  • Practical experience or coursework with simulation and data-analysis tools; familiarity with GT‑Suite/GT‑Power, Fluent, Converge, or similar is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office and comfort with technical documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving, written and verbal communication, and collaboration skills.
  • U.S. Early Careers eligibility: external candidates within 2 years of completing their highest degree and currently residing within the continental U.S. F-1 students must have CPT/OPT authorization before assignment start.
  • This position may require compliance with export control or sanctions licensing.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $67,200 — $100,800 per year (range provided by confidential client).
  • Full-time, exempt — Entry Level.
  • Relocation assistance: Yes (as offered by the confidential client).
  • On-site with flexibility (role is based in Whitakers, NC with some flexibility per client policy).
