What You’ll Do

The confidential client’s Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Test Engineering team validates safety, functionality, and performance of self-driving systems through system-level testing. In this entry-level Testing Engineering Associate role you will focus on executing daily test operations, performing initial triage, and delivering accurate test documentation across virtual, closed-course, and public-road environments.

  • Accountably execute daily AV testing operations across virtual, synthetic, or physical test environments as assigned.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting and fault isolation for minor platform stability issues; document environmental conditions and reproduction steps.
  • Isolate and document minor software or hardware defects with detailed reproduction steps, logs, and system environment data.
  • Conduct preliminary log analysis and prepare accurate, complete test run reports under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Support senior engineers in test-plan development and validation strategies, learning system architecture and rationale.
  • Communicate findings, logs, and initial analyses clearly to lead engineers for prioritization and escalation.
  • Track issues, document findings, and maintain traceability using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and GitLab.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Robotics, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant technical field — or equivalent practical experience.
  • 0–2 years of experience in software QA, hardware/systems testing, robotics projects, or engineering operations.
  • Basic proficiency with Linux and foundational scripting in Python or Bash/Shell.
  • Familiarity with reading technical documentation, log files, and structured test procedures.
  • Basic exposure to automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) or experience with simulation/test tools.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware/mechatronic assembly, field testing, or academic robotics projects is a plus.
  • Strong analytical mindset and a structured approach to troubleshooting and defect isolation.

Preferred (Nice to Have)

  • Prior experience or coursework in autonomous systems or vehicle testing.
  • Experience with logging workflows, system-level validation, or test automation.
  • Practical knowledge of GitLab or similar source-control and CI tools.
  • Comfortable working in both indoor lab and outdoor/field test settings.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated base pay: $97,622 per year (estimated).
  • This role may include additional forms of compensation such as bonus or equity.
