Role overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Reliability Development Test Engineer (Test Engineer) to support automotive development projects in Raymond, GA. This contract role focuses on validating vehicles, systems, and sub-systems to meet strength, durability, and reliability targets. You will plan and execute reliability tests (computational and physical), analyze data, and collaborate across engineering teams to define and implement corrective actions when issues are identified.
What You’ll Do
- Produce and analyze engineering and test data using standard tools and formats.
- Plan, prepare, and coordinate reliability tests and simulations — including facility scheduling, technical support requests, and parts/materials procurement.
- Support physical testing: verify test setups, confirm test-plan adherence, and observe execution.
- Capture test data with data-acquisition systems and prepare clear reports for engineering management.
- Lead or participate in root cause analysis and propose practical countermeasures.
- Communicate findings, recommendations, and status to technical leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Apply computational tools (FEA, scripting) to support durability and strength assessments as needed.
- Maintain accurate test documentation and submit deliverables on schedule.
Required (Essential) Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 1 year of engineering experience (co-op/internship experience may be considered).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for analysis and reporting.
- Hands-on familiarity with reliability/durability test equipment and data acquisition tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical findings to leadership.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capability, including root cause analysis.
Preferred / Additional Skills
- Experience with 3D CAD (CATIA or SolidWorks).
- Experience with FEA tools (Abaqus, Nastran, Ansa, Meta, LS‑DYNA).
- Scripting experience (Python, MATLAB, Java) to automate data processing or simulations.
- Prior experience coordinating automotive validation testing or reliability programs.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple test activities and documentation tasks.
Work environment & schedule
This role is fully onsite in Raymond, GA and operates in a mixed office and test-facility environment. You will split time between desk-based analysis/documentation and hands-on support in test areas. Typical hours follow a standard business schedule, with occasional extended hours to meet critical test deadlines. Appropriate technical and safety gear is required in test areas.
