TEM Analyst I
The TEM Analyst I is an entry-level role responsible for performing asbestos analysis using transmission electron microscopy under direct supervision. The position involves operating analytical instruments, collecting and documenting data, maintaining laboratory compliance with quality and safety standards, and supporting overall laboratory operations while developing technical expertise through training and hands-on experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform asbestos identification and data collection following established laboratory procedures, regulatory methods, and QA/QC requirements.
- Operate transmission electron microscopes (TEM) and associated analytical systems for sample preparation, imaging, and analysis.
- Record and maintain accurate, auditable records of test procedures, results, and observations in accordance with SOPs.
- Notify senior staff of equipment issues, data anomalies, or unusual results and assist with troubleshooting.
- Maintain organized workspaces, manage inventory and equipment logs, and help ensure laboratory readiness.
- Follow laboratory safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Participate in training and development to build TEM technical competency and procedural knowledge.
- Communicate results, progress, and procedural concerns clearly with team members and supervisors.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Materials Science, or a related technical field, OR equivalent relevant laboratory experience.
- 0–2 years laboratory or technical experience (internships and academic research acceptable).
- Familiarity with scientific instrumentation (microscopes preferred) or standard laboratory techniques is advantageous.
Skills & Competencies
- Basic understanding of laboratory safety, SOPs, and data documentation practices.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow standard procedures accurately.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency with standard office software; familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIMS) is a plus.
Compensation & Location
- Location: Plum Boro, PA (onsite)
- Employment type: Full-time
- Estimated salary (as listed): $45,460 per year — actual pay may vary based on experience and location.
