About the Role
Confidential Client is seeking a Technology Commercialization Specialist to support the evaluation and commercialization of intellectual property arising from university research. This is an entry-level, full-time position based in Village, TX. You will receive structured training, regular feedback, and work under the supervision of senior commercialization staff to learn technology transfer terminology, workflows, and agreements.
What You’ll Do
- Support senior commercialization staff with communication and coordination with faculty and research teams.
- Assist with invention disclosure intake, checking submissions for completeness and requesting missing information.
- Conduct guided scientific literature and market research; summarize applications, competing technologies, and preliminary commercial opportunities.
- Collect information on funding, inventor affiliations, collaborators, and related agreements; flag potential ownership or reporting issues for senior review.
- Research licensing, startup, and funding pathways to support commercialization plans and assigned tasks.
- Prepare draft technology summaries, internal review materials, and presentations for senior review.
- Collaborate with Business Development to identify potential licensees and prepare approved outreach materials.
- Provide routine status updates, explain established processes, and escalate substantive strategy questions to senior staff.
- Participate in licensing and collaboration discussions as assigned and document proposed terms and action items.
- Maintain accurate records of inventions and opportunities, track tasks and deadlines, and promptly report concerns or delays.
- Coordinate information requests and handoffs with IP/Operations, Finance, Compliance, Innovation Hub, and Business Development.
- Support startup assistance and innovation events through research, materials preparation, coordination, and follow-up.
- Complete assigned training, apply feedback, and take on additional defined responsibilities as proficiency is demonstrated.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, technology management, life sciences, economics, or a related field.
- Entry-level candidates with 0–2 years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply; relevant coursework, academic projects, internships, or student employment are acceptable.
Preferred
- Coursework, academic research, or project exposure in scientific discovery, entrepreneurship, or technology commercialization.
- Familiarity or coursework related to technology transfer, market research, licensing, or startup pathways.

Salary & Security
- Salary: Commensurate with education, skills, and relevant experience. Estimated figure shown on source: $74,961 per year (estimated).
