What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level Technical Writer / Proposal Analyst role supporting federal IT programs. You will split your time between proposal development and technical documentation, translating complex technical and government material into clear, compliant, and user-friendly content.

  • Support mission alignment by turning senior-leader and government priorities into clear, actionable documents, briefings, and plans.
  • Build and maintain SharePoint sites and organizational charts to organize information across the business unit.
  • Produce compliant, compelling proposal content (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs), including past performance write-ups and resumes.
  • Draft, edit, format, and proofread proposal sections; apply proposal best practices like storyboarding and win-theme alignment.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation: user guides, SOPs, help articles, training materials, FAQs, and knowledge base content.
  • Conduct SME interviews and information-gathering sessions; translate technical concepts into plain language for non-expert audiences.
  • Develop visual aids, diagrams, process flows, charts, and infographics that clarify complex information.
  • Ensure consistency in style, formatting, templates, and government document standards (including accessibility where applicable).
  • Deliver high-quality artifacts on schedule and collaborate across capture, proposal, and delivery teams.

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 1–3 years relevant experience (degrees in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Journalism, or similar a plus).
  • Experience responding to government solicitations (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs) and writing compliant proposal sections.
  • Demonstrated ability to create technical documentation (user guides, SOPs, help content) for non-expert audiences.
  • Strong interviewing, editing, and proofreading skills; meticulous with formatting and terminology.
  • Experience working within document templates and style guides.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to thrive under deadlines.

Preferred

  • Prior government proposal writing experience and familiarity with government formatting standards (e.g., Section 508).
  • Experience with diagramming and visual tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Illustrator).
  • Exposure to documentation/knowledge platforms (SharePoint, Confluence, MadCap Flare, ServiceNow).
  • Familiarity with government program operations and mission environments.

Location & Clearance

  • This position is fully remote within the United States (telecommute).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance is required.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Posted salary range: USD $60,000 - $70,000 per year.

  • Background screening and identity verification, which may include enhanced biometrics.
  • Background check covering criminal history (past 7 years), education verification, and employment history verification (past 7 years).
  • Final hiring decisions are made by the client.

  • This role will report work and deliverables per the client’s standards and security requirements.
  • You will work closely with capture, proposal, and delivery professionals who will coach and support your growth.
