Position summary
This confidential client is hiring a Remote Technical Writer / Proposal Analyst (entry-level) to support federal proposals and create technical documentation. You will translate complex technical and government solicitation materials into clear, compliant proposal content and user-facing technical documentation (SOPs, user guides, knowledge-base articles, training materials). This fully remote role is open to candidates located in the United States.
What You’ll Do
- Support mission-alignment and strategic communications by converting senior-leader direction and government priorities into clear, actionable documents and briefings.
- Produce compliant, persuasive proposal content in response to RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs—draft, format, proofread, and edit sections such as past performance and resumes.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation: user guides, SOPs, help content, FAQs, quick-reference guides, and training materials for non-expert audiences.
- Interview subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather information and translate technical concepts into plain language.
- Build and maintain SharePoint sites or documentation repositories to organize and share content across the team.
- Create visual aids (process flows, charts, diagrams, infographics) to support documents and proposals.
- Apply document templates, style guides, and government formatting/quality standards (including accessibility considerations) to deliver professional outputs.
- Collaborate with capture, proposal, program, and delivery teams to integrate win themes and ensure alignment with overall strategy.
- Meet deadlines and deliver required artifacts on schedule; perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 1–3 years of relevant writing experience (or commensurate experience). Degrees in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or Journalism are preferred.
- Experience responding to government solicitations (RFPs, RFQs, RFIs).
- Demonstrated ability to write compliant and compelling proposal content and to produce clear technical documentation for non-technical audiences.
- Strong interviewing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to style, formatting, and consistency.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience working with document templates and style guides.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability / Public Trust clearance.
Preferred
- Prior experience on government proposals and familiarity with government documentation standards (e.g., accessibility/Section 508, agency style guides).
- Experience with SharePoint, Confluence, MadCap Flare, or knowledge-base systems.
- Ability to create visual aids (Visio, Lucidchart, Illustrator, or similar).
- Familiarity with government program operations and IT solutions.
Compensation & Employment Type
- Employment type: FULL_TIME (telecommute / fully remote within the United States)
- Posted salary range: USD $60,000 – USD $70,000 per year (range reflects expected starting base pay; final offer may vary based on experience, location, and other factors).
